Gods of Darkness and Light Mythically, Mabon is the day of the year when the god of light (Llew) is defeated by his twin and alter-ego, the god of darkness (Goronwy). It is the time of the year when night conquers day. Autumnal Equinox is the only day of the whole year when Llew (light) is vulnerable and it is possible for Goronwy (darkness) to defeat him.
Darkness & Light square off How better for darkness to defeat light than with the famed "Claidheamh-mor" or claymore (Great Sword); feared because of its strength and size. It was said that the bearer of this massive two-handed battle sword needed no shield because the reach of the sword provided its own protection.
Darkness triumphs...for now Few covens have the opportunity to witness the enactment of the god of darkness battling the god of light for control of the impending season. Our talented, 6'4" Webmaster possesses a claymore (Great Sword) and what better way to welcome the Turning of the Wheel than with the full force and effect of such a god of darkness? |
